Hormel Foods Corporation Line Lead - 2nd shift in Knoxville, Iowa
The Knoxville plant has an opening for a Line Lead on our 2nd shift with opportunities for overtime. The successful candidate will work in our food processing production facility located in Knoxville, Iowa, and enjoy competitive wages along with a comprehensive benefits package. The Knoxville plant specializes in the production of Dry Sausage items including PILLOW PACK® pepperoni. The incumbent will assist production supervisors in coordination of the activities of their assigned departments. The supervisor will have primary responsibility for the complete department and will provide direction to the line lead. The line lead will assist the supervisor in the coordination of the startup and mechanical needs of the line to ensure quality attributes are met. The line lead will also identify and recommend ideas to improve efficiencies and yield to help achieve departmental goals. This position will function in a relatively similar capacity as a supervisor, but will not issue discipline or provide performance appraisals. This position will cover multiple shifts as needed. Job Responsibilities: ·Keep the production lines running. If a problem arises, the Line Lead will take action to get the line running and maximize efficiencies. ·Ensure that all quality attributes of production specifications are met to produce safe and wholesome products. ·Proactively monitor operations to ensure policies are being adhered to. This includes: 1st case checks, reviewing paperwork, increased quality checks, monitoring LOTO, reviewing blade sharpening, checking weight control, and more. ·Assume duties of supervisor at times. These duties include but are not limited to yield improvements and reconciliation, training new employees, and problem solving. Qualifications Required: ·High school education or the equivalent. ·Proven leadership, persuasive, initiative, analytical, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position. ·Aptitude to understand basic mechanical and operational functions of our production equipment. ·Ability to lift boxes up to 50 pounds. · Ability to work in a climate controlled environment with temperatures ranging from 30-70 degrees F, having damp, slippery floors, and exposed to a high level of noise requiring hearing protection (>85dBA). ·Ability to work on your feet 10 hours a day. Qualifications Preferred: · Associate's degree. · Previous management or leadership experience.
